“Constitutional boundary of Assam will be respected by all”: Assam ADGP on border tensions with Mizoram
Silchar: Amid ongoing tensions between Assam and Mizoram at the border, GP Singh, the Additional Director General of Police (law and order) of Assam made a visit to the Assam-Mizoram inter state border on Wednesday.
Accompanied by Deputy Commissioner, Cachar, Keerthi Jalli, DIG Southern Range, Dilip Kumar Dey, SP, Cachar, Bhanwar Lal Meena, and other officials, Singh reviewed the law and order situation in the wake of a bomb blast in a Bengali medium school located at Khulicherra area close to the Assam-Mizoram inter state border last Thursday night.
Singh said the explosion at the school was possibly the handiwork of miscreants out to terrorise the local people.
He further instructed the SP of Cachar to file a petition in the court under relevant sections of Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA).
During his visit to Khulicherra, Singh also discussed the prevailing tensions with SP of Kolasib district Pu Vanlafaka Ralte and other senior police officials of Kolasib district of Mizoram before reaching Lailapur of Assam from Mizoram’s Vairengte area.
“The constitutional boundary of Assam will be respected by one and all and that all the statutory provisions are being utilised with regular interactions being held by Government of India and Government of Assam which will eventually pave the way for withdrawal of forces (from Assam’s territory),” Singh told media during the visit.
