Coronavirus: Manipur Govt Closes Down Schools till Mar 31 as Int'l Death Toll Crosses 4,000

Imphal, March 12, 2020:

All the government-aided and private Schools of Manipur will remain closed till March 31 in a bid to reduce mass gatherings amid Coronavirus.

The Manipur government has issued a notification ordering the closure of all its Schools amid rising cases of the deadly Coronavirus in the country.

"In order to ensure reduction of mass gatherings and to avoid spread of COVID-19 Novel Coronavirus disease and as a precautionary measure, the Governor of Manipur is pleased to order that all Schools (Government Aided and Schools including Private Schools) located within Manipur State shall remain closed with immediate effect till 31st March, 2020 in public interest," read the notification.

However, all kinds of examination, which have already been scheduled, theory and practical will remain unaffected.

It may be mentioned here that globally death toll due to Coronavirus has crossed the 4000-mark. More than 1, 18,000 cases have been tested positive across the globe. Manipur has also closed its borders with its neighboring countries to prevent the spread of Coronavirus.

India has issued travel advisories suspending visas for all the countries till April 15, 2020.
