GUWAHATI: Assam’s COVID-19 death toll rose to 1,307 as the state witnessed 26 new COVID-19 deaths over the past 24 hours.

On the other hand, 3,197 fresh COVID-19 positive cases took the tally to 2,53,123, while the active caseload mounted to 23,826.

A total of 2,449 patients recovered from the disease during the period, taking the total number of recoveries in the state to 2,26,643, with an recovery rate of 89.54 per cent.

Of the new fatalities, eight were reported from Kamrup (M), four from Kamrup, two each from Dibrugarh, Hojai, Sivasagar and Nagaon, and one each from Barpeta, Cachar, Darrang, Golaghat, Nalbari and Udalguri districts.

Kamrup (M) recorded the highest of 1,184 new COVID-19 positive cases, while Dibrugarh reported 245, Nalbari 143 and Kamrup district 133 cases.

As many as 72,239 tests for COVID-19 were conducted today with the positivity rate being 4.43 per cent.

The state has so far tested a total of 86,04,935 samples for COVID-19.

On the other hand, Assam has inoculated a total of 24,66,321 people so far. Of them, 19,35,166 have received the first dose while 5,31,155 have received the second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.
