IMPHAL: Manipur saw its highest ever single day spike in COVID-19 positive cases since January, with 23 new positive cases detected over the past 24 hours.
With this new spike, the state tally of positive cases reached 29,540.
As per the state health department, eight women and three Central Armed Police Force personnel also tested positive among the 23 cases.
The state of Manipur recently had 118 positive cases with the recovery of 11 people on Monday.
Over the past 24 hours, India recorded 1.84 lakh cases, the highest single day increase ever.
India is the country with the second highest number of total COVID-19 cases and the third highest number of active cases. In India, 1,027 people died in a single day as a result of COVID-19.
The virus has claimed the lives of 1,72,115 people so far.
