Rana Pratap Saikia:

Starting at 7 pm today, musicians from Nagaland will enthrall music lovers who must be feeling the pangs of boredom after the Government enforced a nationwide lockdown to check the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19). Task Force for Music and Arts (tafma) has organized an event that will see the participation of some of the biggest shining stars of the Nagaland music industry who, while reiterating the necessity of staying at home in the crisis period, will lighten the mood with a delightful array of songs to imbue the people with hope.

The most interesting part is, people can view the concerts from within the four walls of their houses as all artists will livestream their performances on the official pages of the tafma on Facebook and Instagram.

Today, renowned musician Mengu Suokhrie will flag off the event at 7 pm with a string of songs that she feels will inspire "hope". Talking to Inside Northeast, the songstress said that the musicians, who were in touch via a WhatsApp group opened by the Task Force for Music and Arts (Tafma), decided to give something back to the people. " We are very serious about this and we want people to feel positively. I have arranged Christmas lights and want it to feel like a real concert" Suokhrie reveals.

Metet Jamir, another musician who will be performing live (on April 8) believes that these concerts will be a good platform to spread awareness about the coronavirus. "There are lots of things to do when you're on the recreational side or wanting to improve oneself during this lockdown. Tafma wants the Entertainers to be the voice of COVID-19 in Nagaland. During this home live gig, apart from singing we as a musicians are going to spread awareness on COVID-19 as well", Jamir told us.

Lulu Tetseo, one of the members of the musical quartet Tetseo Sisters, is relishing the opportunity to play live stream a concert. "This will be the first time for the Tetseo Sisters to live stream for a specific gig. We do live streams from our rehearsals or green room at gigs, but to actually sit down and do a full/special set - this is a first. We request everyone to join in the fun and also support artists of Nagaland as we reiterate the message of staying home for the betterment of all with this gig. We are bringing the music/entertainment home to you. Enjoy it from the comfort and safety of your home."

The live video shows will start on April 4 and will continue till April 14, when the lockdown will come to an end. Every artist will behin his/her set from 7:00 pm onwards every night.

One artist per evening will go live approximately about 20-25 minutes while performing and interacting with viewers and music lovers for 11 continuous nights.

So, if you are stuck in your homes and wish for some lively entertainment to lighten your mood, log in to your Instagram account and visit @tafma_nagaland on Instagram to experience the music. Additionally, one can also log into the artists' personal pages to watch the shows.
