New Delhi, August 19, 2019:
A Chef hailing from Darjeeling died at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi, five hours after he was found injured on the roadside in the city’s Shantiniketan area on Friday.
The victim has been identified as Ajay Rana (26). He was working as a Chef at a restaurant of a hotel in South Delhi. The police said that the person died in a road mishap but his family has alleged he was murdered.
According to Anand Rana, the Chef’s brother, the incident took place when the victim was returning to his workplace on his bike around 3.30 pm. He said that his brother had gone to Delhi Aerocity near the airport to deposit a few cheques in a bank.
He added that he suspected someone and that the incident was ‘intentional’.
According to the police, a passerby had admitted Ajay to the AIIMS Trauma Centre after he was found injured on the roadside below the Rao Tula Ram flyover in south Delhi’s Shanti Niketan.
The hospital authorities had informed the RK Puram police since the passerby had told them that the accident took place in RK Puram Sector -8.
Ajay lived in a rented home in Delhi’s RK Puram Sector-12. A case of rash driving and causing hurt was registered in the RK Puram Police Station. Section 304 A (death by negligence) was also added since the Ajay succumbed to his injuries in the night.
Hospital authorities handed over Ajay’s body to his family after the autopsy was conducted on Saturday.
