India should be declare as 'Hindu Rashtra' by October 2: Top seer

NEW DELHI: Jagadguru Paramhans Acharya Maharaj, a noted seer, has demanded the Central government that India should be declared a "Hindu Rashtra" by October 2 or he will take Jal Samadhi in the Sarayu River.

The Maharaj also demanded the Centre to officially end the nationality of Muslims and Christians.

According to reports, the saints of Ayodhya have said that they will form a 'Hindu Sanatan Dharma Sansad' to support the seer's requests.

Acharya had previously gone on a 15-day fast to death over the issue, which lasted until he received assurances from Union Home Minister Amit Shah.

The remarks come at a time when work on the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya is underway, and political parties such as the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), the Samajwadi Party, the Bahujan Samaj Party, and the Congress have begun planning for the Uttar Pradesh (UP) Assembly elections in 2022.
