Defence Minister Rajnath Singh Attends 'Maitree Diwas' Celebrations in Arunachal

Itanagar, November 14, 2019:

Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh is heading to frontier state Arunachal Pradesh on a two-day visit, where he will partake in 'Maitree Diwas' in the state, which will be held today.

Informing this via Twitter, Defence Minister Singh wrote, "Heading to Tawang on a two day visit to Arunachal Pradesh. Looking forward to attend ‘Maitree Diwas’ celebrations and also visit the forward areas."

Maitree Diwas (Civil-Military Friendship) will be celebrated for two days at Gyalwa Tsangyang Gyatso High Altitude Stadium Tawang.

This will be the 11th edition of Maitree Diwas which celebrates civil-military bonhomie in the area. Maitree Diwas aims at celebrating the strong spirit of friendship and bonhomie that exists between the civilians and the Indian Army. Maitree Diwas was initiated by Late Dorjee Khandu, Former Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh in 2004.

Rajnath Singh will also inaugurate Sisseri River Bridge and National Highway-52 in East Siang District tomorrow.
