NEW DELHI: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal extended the full lockdown in the national capital for another week on Sunday April 25 due to the worsening COVID-19 situation.

The COVID-19 induced lockdown in Delhi, which was expected to last until the morning of April 26th, will now last until May 2nd.

The Delhi CM said in a press brief, in Delhi, we had put a six-day lockdown. The lockdown will be extended until 5 a.m. on Monday.

For better control of oxygen supply, Kejriwal announced that the Delhi government has launched a portal that will be updated every two hours by oxygen producers, suppliers, and hospitals.

The national capital saw 24,103 new COVID-19 infections and 357 deaths on Saturday, the city's highest single-day toll since the pandemic began.

The positivity rate in Delhi has risen to 32.27 percent and the COVID-19 caseload has surpassed 10 lakh with the total number of active cases approaching one lakh. There are currently 93,080 active infections in the city.

A total of 13,898 people have died as a result of the coronavirus in Delhi.

In the last 12 days, nearly 2,500 people have died in Delhi as a result of the deadly virus. Since the lockdown, 277 people have died on April 20, 249 on April 21, 306 on April 22, and 348 on April 23.

In Delhi, the number of containment zones has risen from 22,000 to 24,802.
