New Delhi: The Delhi government on Saturday ordered that gyms and yoga centres in the state would be allowed to reopen at 50 percent capacity starting from Monday.

The relaxations will take effect at 5 a.m. on Monday.

Weddings can now be organized at banquet halls, marriage halls, and hotels, although the number of guests is limited to 50, according to the order.

The Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) issued an order late Saturday night stating that marriages with a maximum of 20 persons will continue to be permitted in courts or at home with strict adherence to COVID acceptable behaviour.

'Furthermore, weddings will be allowed in banquet halls, marriage halls, and hotels with a capacity of 50 people, subject to strict adherence to COVID Appropriate Behaviour guidelines', according to the order.

Owners of banquet halls, wedding halls, and hotels will be responsible for ensuring that COVID-19-appropriate behaviour such as face masks and social separation is strictly enforced.

'Strict penal/criminal action will be taken against the owner of the premises as well as against the individual if any violation is found and the premises will be sealed immediately,' the DDMA said.

According to the order, gyms and yoga institutes in the city will be allowed to open with a capacity of up to 50%, and the owners of these facilities will be responsible for ensuring that Covid-appropriate behaviour is observed on the premises.

The DDMA decision stated that schools, colleges, universities and educational institutes, theatres, multiplexes, swimming pools, entertainment and amusement parks, and banquet halls for any reason other than weddings will remain closed.

All other prohibited and restricted activities will remain so until 5 a.m. on July 5, according to the statement.
