NEW DELHI: A Delhi-based YouTuber has been charged with animal cruelty after strapping hydrogen balloons to his pet dog's back and making it float in the air.

The accused has been identified as Gaurav John.

He posted video of the callous behavior on his YouTube channel ‘GauravZone,' in which he can be seen tying many balloons to his pet dog at Delhi park.

The video quickly drew outrage among social media users, with many slamming Gaurav for his terrible behavior.

A complaint was filed against Gaurav John and his mother at the Malviya Nagar police station in Delhi under Sections 188, 269, and 34 of the Animal Cruelty Act after People For Animals (PFA)  raised the issue.

In the video, Gaurav can be seen saying let's make Dollar (The dog's name) fly 3, 2, 1...Gaurav demonstrates the technique by pulling up the string of balloons and raising his dog Dollar.

Gaurav and his mother were seen cheering and applauding when the dog was spotted dangling in the air after a few seconds.

He can be heard saying in the video," Whenever we will make Dollar fly, we will do it with all necessary precautions so please do not take it otherwise."

However, after the controversy he removed the contentious video and apologized, claiming that he had taken all necessary precautions before filming the video and making his pet dog flying in the air with hydrogen balloons.

" I mentioned this in the video, but I didn't upload it since it would have made the video longer. It was a mistake on my part. All I want to say is that I created the video with all of the necessary safety precautions but wrong content was sent out, and that should not have happened." he said.

Moreover, he also apologised to animal lovers, claiming that he treats his dog "like a child."

“I'm sorry if seeing the Dollar's video made you feel uncomfortable. I'm not going to do something like that again. Please don't be swayed by such content. If anyone's feelings were wounded, I humbly ask for your forgiveness," he added.
