TINSUKIA: A man from was feared drowned in the Brahmaputra river this morning here in Tinsukia district of Assam.

The man has been identified as Ankur Roy, a resident of Dhemaji who was employed near Assam Medical College and Hospital (AMCH), Dibrugarh.

Roy has gone missing from the riverbank of Tinkunia.

On receiving information, a team of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) reached the spot.

The NDRF team has started the search operation immediately.

As per the NDRF officials, Roy went to take bath in the river at about 4.30 pm today and was feared drowned.

However, unofficial sources said that Roy has gone missing at the riverbank of Brahmaputra during the immersion of goddess Durga on Vijaya Dashami.

The search operation will be resumed again from tomorrow morning.
