DIBRUGARH: The Dibrugarh district administration today issued a standard operating procedure (SOP) for reopening of schools from Class VI to XII in view of an increase in the number of COVID-19 cases.

After monitoring the situation for 15 days from tomorrow, the SOP will be updated.

This SOP stipulate a variety of general precautionary measures to be taken, as well as particular measures to be taken when schools allow students from grades VI to XII to attend classes in order to avoid the spread of COVID-19.

Easy public health interventions to minimise the risk of COVID-19 are included in the generic preventive measures which must be followed at times by all teachers, staff and students.

Mandatory hand hygiene (sanitiser dispenser) and thermal screening are required at the entrance.

According to the given guidelines, physical distance of at least 6 feet must be maintained. The head of the institutions will have to make the use of face covers/masks obligatory. Hand washing with soap (at least 40-60 seconds) on a regular basis, even though hands are not clearly dirty, while possible alcohol-based hand sanitisers should be used for at least 20 seconds.

Sanitise school grounds with a 1 per cent sodium hypochlorite solution at regular intervals, paying special attention to regularly touched surfaces.
