Assam: Diganta Bora becomes first ever IPS to become Home Secretary

GUWAHATI: The Government of Assam has appointed Indian Police Service (IPS) officer Diganta Bora as Secretary to the Home Department of the state; this makes him the first ever IPS officer to become secretary to Assam's Home Department.

Diganta Bora is an IPS officer from the 2004 batch and was serving as Deputy General of Police (Admin), Assam in Guwahati.

Bora was awarded the Achiever 2020 by the non-profit and non-government organisation 'Enchanted Frontiers' award for his contributions in the field of Public Administration.

Bora, born in Gohpur, ranked second in the HSLC exam and graduated from St. Stephens in Physics from Delhi University in the year 1998.

For a few years, Bora worked in New Delhi colleges before cracking the civil service examination in the year 2004.
