DIMAPUR: Protesting against the city's deplorable road conditions, the Dimapur District Congress Committee and the NPCC minority department will stage a dharna at strategic locations across Dimapur on October 25.

The parties backed by frontal organizations will first stage the dharna protesting against the city's deplorable road conditions, and later, in protest of erratic power supply.

As per reports, the first phase of the protest will be held between 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at--Dhobinala Junction, Near Mayur Hotel GS Road, and Station Road, followed by submission of a memorandum to deputy commissioner Dimapur, according to NPCC minority cell chairman Rajesh Kr. Sethi.

Meanwhile, Sethi stated that the party decided to organize the second phase protest against the erratic power supply, which has caused immense suffering to the general population, particularly the business community.

He stated that the date and hour will be set by the party.

The National Highway from Dillai Gate to PWD Road, Tragopan Junction, Midland-Dhobinala, and G.S. Road-Station Road has been in the worst possible condition for decades, with no maintenance or repair, according to Congress.

Furthermore, Congress said that dusty roads contribute to air pollution and that during the monsoon, waterlogging and clogged drains are common. According to the party, all of these have become a severe threat to health and life.
