GUWAHATI: Representatives from both the Assam and Mizoram governments will meet tomorrow in Mizoram's capital Aizawl to discuss resolving the ongoing border issues.

From the Assam government, two cabinet ministers--Atul Bora and  Ashok Singhal will attend the meeting.

Mizoram Chief Minister Zoramthanga, on the other hand, has not yet revealed the names of the ministers from the Mizoram government who will attend the meeting.

Yesterday, the Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuba-Chatra Parishad (AJYCP) has also written to Mizoram's Chief Minister, requesting a peace meeting to resolve the border issues between Assam and Mizoram.

In the letter, the AJYCP wrote, "The legacy of the "Seven Sister" is a matter of pride for the North East. The unity and harmony among the people of the seven sister states have always drawn jealousy, hatred, and concern for those forces who do not want to see the Northeast as strong and united."

"The recent border clash between Assam and Mizoram has put a stigma in this age-old peaceful relation existing amongst the people of these two neighboring states. Such violence will only encourage those who intend to disrupt the unity amongst the seven sisters," it added.

Thus the AJYCP urged the Mizoram government to seek the intervention of the Union government and to hold an open discussion with the Assam CM to resolve the border issues politically.

It also said, filing FIR against Assam CM  will only increase the bitterness between the two friendly neighbours, therefore both the Assam and Mizoram governments have been requested to take leadership in creating a peaceful environment to promote unity and progress of the entire Northeast.

Earlier, today Mizoram CM took to Twitter and enclosing the AJYCP's letter informed that the open discussion will be held on August 5.
