DNLA declares 36-hour bandh in Dima Hasao, reaffirms resolve to fight for 'Dimasa nation'

HAFLONG: The Dimasa National Liberation Army (DNLA), a militant organization based in Assam's Dima hasao district, has reiterated its objective to fight for a separate Dimasa nation. The organization has also called for a 36-hour 'bandh' in 'Dimaraji areas' that will begin at 5 PM on January 24, 2021.

Jadini Dongya Hoshom, the Chairman of the militant outfit, stated that the general assembly held at 'deep forest' has vowed to "re-vamp our national struggle and declare to fight for the liberation of an independent self roll of Dimasa nation with strengthening our policy."

"The organization also established a government-in-exile called 'Dimasa Peoples Supreme Council (DPSC) which will interact with formal and non-formal world and media," the DNLA further announced in its release.

"We all are determined to our culture language, land and historical right," the release further added.

According to the DNLA press release, the supreme council members will consist of the Chairman, Vice President, and Public Secretary of the militant outfit.

"We appeal for to everyone to support in the said band The Medical. Water Supply, Education Institute and Milk Supply are excluded from the bandh. Any unwanted movement in the Bandh will be solely responsible for his/her act. We will fight to the death for our right," it added in the release.

According to the release, the organization is "for and to develop a sense of brotherhood among the Dimasa and also to be build the trust and faith among the Dimasa society for regaining the Dimasa kingdom."

The DNLA group announced its formation through a press release on April 15, 2019, ahead of the General Elections in India. The militant group also called for a boycott of the polls, which went largely unheeded.
