AGARTALA: The Indigenous Progressive Regional Alliance (TIPRA) chief Pradyut Manikya yesterday said that he does not see the possibility of an alliance between his party and the Indigenous Peoples Front of Tripura (IPFT).

Addressing the press, the royal scion added that he did not have any discussions with his party before announcing 18 Candidates for the ensuing tribal Council polls in the state.

"The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) ally IPFT has already announced 18 seats in 28 members council. They are still meeting BJP," he said addressing the media yesterday.

“I am not interested in seats, I am only interested in ideology” he said, adding alliance cannot happen only on seats.

“Today I may be zero, I will fight and I will may remain zero but, I will not compromise on my ideology,” he added.

“Never spoken against Sonia Gandhi or Rahul Gandhi when I left Congress, I won't speak against IPFT leaders just because people want me to. I don't believe in badmouthing people when things don't work out,” Manikya wrote in a tweet later.

The IPFT, which recently extended a hand towards TIPRA, has released its first list of 18 candidates for the upcoming Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) elections.

The IPFT will contest in all the 28 seats of the TTAADC.

IPFT chief and Tripura Minister NC Debbarma has informed that the party will announce candidates for the remaining 10 seats soon.
