Durga Puja Idols Made of ‘Masoor Dal’ in Assam’s Nagaon

Creative minds in Assam’s Nagoan district have come together to design this year’s Durga Puja idols using ‘masoor dal’.

About 1200 kilos of masoor has been used in the making of Goddess Durga, Lord Ganesha and other deities to be showcased in Shani Mandir’s premise this Durga Puja.

The annual festival is one of the most awaited events of Assam, wherein people gear up with fervor to offer their prayers to Goddess Durga. Puja committees also take active participation in showcasing their best designed idols to attract devotees.

The Shani Mandir idols aim at increasing the footfall this year. Skilled artists across Assam have joined in making the best and unique Durga Puja idols.

While some have come up with eco-friendly idols, others have used jute to design the interiors of Pandals. The Kamakhya Colony Committee, with a view to support the 'plastic-free' India, has used jute in its designs to attract the people to its Puja pandal.

Durga Puja is just three more days away and people everywhere are busy giving their final touch to their shopping and Puja plans.
