IMPHAL: Even as Union Home Minister Amit Shah has assured full cooperation to contain the raging fire in Northeast India's picturesque Dzoukou valley, the blaze that originated on the Nagaland side of the Valley has continued spreading into Manipur. Meanwhile, sources have informed that the fire -- which began 4 days ago -- is heading towards inhabited regions in the Valley.

Meanwhile, the Indian Air Force (IAF) has been pressed into service to contain the outbreak. Meanwhile, Union Home Minister Amit Shah has assured of his help in containing the outbreak.

Sharing the latest development, CM Biren Singh on Friday tweeted,“Just received a call from Hon’ble Union Home Minister Shri @AmitShah Ji to assess and discuss the situation about the wildfire at Dzukou valley.”

“Amit Shah Ji has assured all the necessary assistance from the Home Ministry to contain the situation at earliest,” CM Biren added.

On Thursday, the CM, accompanied by state chief secretary Dr Rajesh Kumar, DGP Manipur LM Khaute and Deputy Commissioner Th Kirankumar of Senapati district, conducted an aerial survey to take stock of the situation.

Meanwhile, several hundred volunteers along with the fire fighters are engaged in fighting the fire, but strong winds and the uneven terrain is making the operation difficult.
