Eminent Artist Ratna Ojha Passes Away at 88

Ratna Ojha, an eminent artist from Assam, who was recently seen participating in protests against the Citizenship Act, is no more. Ojha was 88.

According to reports, Ojha passed away in Guwahati city on December 31 after a brief spell of illness.

It may be recalled that recently, a wheelchair-ridden Ojha was seen participating in protests against the Citizenship Act at an artists' protest at the Chandmari field in Guwahati.

Ojha, who was conferred the Natyasurya award in 2005 for his contributions in the field of theatre and arts, was a multi-faceted artist.

Ojha, along with his fellow artistes, set a trend when, instead of waiting for Government funds, staged protests on the streets of Assam. He is widely renowned for his trilogy - Gogbor, Urbor, and Kobor. Ge is also known for his contribution towards the production and direction of the documentary film 'Naam Ghar'.
