Ex-President’s family excluded from NRC

Assam, 31 July 2018:

Barely 24 hours have passed since the complete draft of National Register of Citizens (NRC) and more astonishing facts continue to emerge.

Now, it has been found that family members of former President of India Fakhruddin Ali Ahmed have been excluded from the NRC draft.

Ahtrauddin Ali Ahmed, who is the brother of the former President, has not been included in the draft.

Further, the former President’s nephew Jiyauddin Ali Ahmed, his wife Akima Begum and their two sons Habib Ali and Wajed Ali residing at Barhampur, Rangia under Jayantipur panchayat, too have not been included in the draft.

The family informed Inside NE that they could not apply for the NRC due to the lack of documents.

They said although they sought legacy documents from their family members residing in Barpeta, Goalpara, Abhayapuri and Rangia, but the latter could not provide them any, and hence refrained from applying.
