Guwahati, March 10, 2019:

Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) senior spokesperson, Durga Das Boro on Monday said that the exit polls given out by different agencies are nothing more than an entertainment feed for the people.

He also alleged that the “Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) members have killed Mahatma Gandhi once again by claiming Nathuram Godse as a patriot.”

Addressing the press here, Durga Das Boro said that the results on May 23 will be decided by the reliability of the exit polls.

“BJP is conspiring to demoralize the candidates of the opposition parties by influencing the vote counting through these exit polls,” he charged.

Bodo also said that during the 2004 elections, during the time of Atal Bihari Vajpayee, the BJP party was expected to prevail as per the exit-polls, but this did not help them in the actual election. "The Government that year was formed under Manmohan Singh, the UPA government was formed and this year also we will see a similar scenario unfold,", Boro said.

Boro further said that the ongoing exit polls will just entertain the people for the next three days and added that the agencies had claimed that the BJP would get a lot of votes many times before, which was ultimately proven false.

"Already there are different allegations against Election Commission’s role in the election which was not brought up by the Congress or any other opposition, but by one of the members of the three-member committee formed during the election", he said.

“Modi and his party have taken up issues like the surgical strikes, Pulwama blast, etc as their election agendas to contest the election. Whereas, Congress took up the grass root issues like the youth’s unemployment, farmer issues, etc. In the past 5 years, Congress president Rahul Gandhi has addressed the media almost 45 times regarding different issues. In contrast to this, Modi appeared only once and said nothing,” Boro said.

Boro also commented on the threat to freedom of media during the Narendra-Modi led BJP regime.

"There were six serious allegations against Narendra Modi during the election but he was given clean chit", he said.

Pointing out the EVM machines being brought to a warehouse in Amingaon of Assam, the APCC spokesperson also alleged that there were reports of 22 lakh missing EVMs machines and despite many queries, the EC had not replied.

The Congress leader also slammed the BJP party by saying that the party does not have the confidence of winning the election, so they killed Mahatma Gandhi for the second time as party members had announced Nathuram Godse to be a patriot.
