Fake Army arrested in Assam's Tezpur

TEZPUR: A man and a woman were arrested by a team of the Indian Army for impersonating an Army officer in Tezpur in the Sonitpur district of Assam.

Indian Army team picked up the fake Army officer along with the woman yesterday from near Kaliabor Bridge (south bank) in Tezpur.

They also seized forged documents such as --Identity Card, liquid card, departmental identity card, etc from his possession.

The accused man initially claimed that he was from 9 Para (Special Forces), then he changed his statement that he works in Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF).

"The girl appears to be involved as well since she is wearing a t-shirt with Para SF insignia," sources.

According to sources, a team of army officers was conducting surveillance in the area between Missa Cantonment and Tezpur Cantonment yesterday and has noticed an individual dressed in army uniform with an 'INDIAN ARMY' insignia which sparked suspicion

Sources said that the accused man is suspected to be a spy as both Missa and Tezpur are very sensitive military bases.
