NEW DELHI: Farmers' unions have called for Bharat bandh on March 26 on completion of their ongoing protest of 4 months at Delhi borders.

Farmers' unions announced their plans to oppose the three agriculture laws passed by Parliament in 2020, saying that certain trade unions would join them in their protest against fuel price hikes on March 15

Following Red Fort violence, which tarnished the image of the farmers' so far peaceful protest, the farmers' unions are concentrating their efforts on spreading their message to other states through visits, mahapanchayats, and other means, rather than remaining confined to the Delhi borders.

Farmers from Punjab and Uttar Pradesh are flocking to the protest sites of Singhu, Tikri, and Ghazipur, while union leaders travel across the country, and some of those who have been at the protest sites since November-December are returning to take care of their crops.

The confederation of all India traders called a nationwide strike

on February 26, demanding a review of the provisions of the goods and services tax (GST) regime.

Recently, observing the 100th day of their ongoing protest, the farmers said the protests will go on unless the laws are repealed.
