For the First Time Ever, Cattle Smuggling Detected in Sikkim

Gangtok, February 27, 2020:

First of its kind, a case of cattle smuggling has came to light in the hilly Northeastern state of Sikkim. The case came to the fore when a vehicle carrying five cows was detained by the public at Aho in East Sikkim district.

According to our reports, the cows were being taken in a goods carrier vehicle bearing registration number WB 78 2895.

The locals inquired the driver where the cows are being taken, but he chose to stay mum on the issue.

"This is the first time that such an incident has been reported in Sikkim. It is indeed quite shocking and although incidents like these are common along the porous borders, it is quite unnatural for these things to be witnessed in Sikkim", a local informed Inside Northeast.
