Former Assam chief minister Tarun Gogoi tested negative for COVID-19 on Wednesday. Gogoi was admitted to Gauhati Medical College Hospital (GMCH) on August 25 after he tested positive for the disease.

On August 31, Tarun Gogoi had a sudden fall in oxygen saturation level and it came down to 88 percent. He was given plasma therapy following which his oxygen saturation came to normal.

Assam Health & Family Welfare minister Himanta Biswa Sarma also set up a special team of doctors to monitor the health of Gogoi.

Gogoi is likely to stay in the hospital for a couple of days before being discharged. His health condition is stated to be stable now.
