Former BBC Journalist’s 11-year-old Son Life Threatened Allegedly by BJP

New Delhi, December 20, 2019:

Amid the wave of ongoing violence over the Citizenship (Amendment) Act, a life threat to former BBC Journalist, Rifat Jawaid's 11-year-old son, allegedly by BJP, has surfaced.

Rifat Jawaid had posted a photo of his son, Kibriya, extending his birthday greetings on his Twitter handle. He wrote, “Happy birthday to our little scientist Kibriya! Can’t believe it’s already 11 years since we were blessed with this bundle of joy! And what a joy he’s been all these years! May Allah grant you the success of both deen and duniya! Ameen!

This was replied by one user, Onkar Sharma, with “Isko 72 huro ke paas bhejne ki tayyariyan shuru ho chuki hain,” which translates to “The preparation to send him to 72 angels has begun." It means “preparations to send him to heaven to 72 angels have started.”

Rifat shared the screenshot of the Twitter thread stating, “This Hindutva terrorist Onkar Sharma issues chilling threat to my son on Twitter. The kind of country Modi and Shah have turned India into. Since he is Sharma, don’t expect police to take any action.”

Rifat Jawaid informed that he would file a First Information Report (FIR) at the Cyber Cell of Delhi Police to trace the guy named Omkar…

Speaking with Inside Northeast, Rifat Jawaid said, “I’ve been a journalist all these years and I’ve been receiving life threats by the supporters of the ruling party. Such threats are very common to me and I don’t even react to those but this time it is serious. This is the first time they have said such chilling words for my son.”

Jawaid further said, “There is absolutely no doubt at all that it has come from the ruling party. I’ve been tweeting against the Citizenship (Amendment) Act and I feel all my tweets against the C(A)A has gone viral and then out of the blue this tweet has come up.”

The life threat to the 11-year-old son of former BBC Journalist has come at a time when there is a law & order crisis in the country. Citizens have been raising questions on the current government and alleging it of attempting to make India a Hindu Rashtra. The opposition and political experts have even termed the C(A)A as the beginning of the Hindu Rashtra.
