Former Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis Reaches Siliguri to Promote CAA

Amid the BJP-led Central Government's repeated reassurances that the controversial amendment of the Citizenship Act is indeed in the best interests of everyone, former Maharastra CM Devendra Fadnavis has reached Siliguri in West Bengal to take part in a rally to promote the Bill-turned-Act.

The senior BJP leader Fadnavis was welcomed at the Bagdogra Airport in Siliguri by MP Raju Bisht. Many workers from the BJP and its allies were also present at the airport to receive the former Maharashtra CM.

It may be mentioned here that in response to the protests against the passage of the Citizenship Amendment Bill, BJP leaders and workers have started their own rallies to counter the anti-CAA movement.

The BJP believes that these rallies will "educate" the people on the contentious CAA and National Register of Citizens (NRC).

However, some of the saffron party's members have been witnessed making controversial statements during the pro-CAA rallies.

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Kapil Mishra recently led a pro-Citizenship (Amendment) Act rally in the streets of Delhi shouting slogans of: “Desh Ke Gaddaron Goli Maro Saalo Ko” (translation: shoot the traitors of the nation).

A video that was shared by Kapil Mishra himself shows the leader marching in the streets of Delhi chanting “Desh Ke Gaddaron Goli Maro Saalo Ko”. After the video started going viral, netizens started clamoring for his arrest.
