Guwahati, December 26, 2016:

Former Prime Minister H D Deve Gowda expressed disappointment at not being invited to the Bogibeel inauguration despite laying the foundation stone in 1997 when he was Prime Minister.

“Railway line to Kashmir, Delhi Metro, and Bogibeel Railroad Bridge were some of the projects I had sanctioned. I had sanctioned budget of Rs.100 crores for each of these projects and laid their foundation stones. People have forgotten today,” Deve Gowda lamented. Commenting on the delay of the project, Deve Gowda said that he differed from other politicians because he had completed numerous projects (such as the Hassan-Mysuru project, Anagwadi bridge, etc) is a relatively short period of time.

The Bogibeel Bridge in Assam inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday, is the longest rail-cum-road bridge in Assam and will connect the Assam districts of Dhemaji and Dibrigarh, also bringing the sensitive border state of Arunachal Pradesh in close proximity to the centre, in the process.
