Guwahati, February 19, 2020:

The fourth edition of the Guwahati International Music Festival is all set to take place in Guwahati with Benny Dayal and Lucky Ali being the major performers.

The festival will be held at Shilpgram on February 29. The festival will be showcasing a line-up that will bring together some of the most significant artists from the Asian circuit.

The festival will feature artists from more than 9 countries including Thailand, Korea, Vietnam, Philippines, Australia, USA, Bangladesh, Nepal, Reunion Island (French Territory) and 6 acts from North East. The North East artists were selected based on state-level auditions.

The headliners for the even are Benny Dayal and Lucky Ali. Benny Dayal will be performing on February 29 while Lucky Ali takes charge of the stage on March 1.

Some of the international acts are will be Asia 7  from Thailand, OPNAIRDRGMKT  from Vietnam, Rajan Shrestha aka Phatcowlee from Nepal, Md Shahjahan Munshi from Baul, Gayen from Bangladesh and Doga Fara from Reunion Island.

From India, Sound of the Hills of Mizoram, Dr Dope and Bottle Rockets India will be among the major ones.

Apart from the music, the visitors will also witness an ethnic food festival from the Northeastern states.

An ethnic food competition for homemakers will also be held on March 1.

The entry into the venue and the program will be free.

The Guwahati International Music Festival was conceptualized in 2011 to fill the need for a premier music festival in the country that can showcase the best of regional, national and international talents in the music field to the people of the region.

Besides serving as a platform for interaction among musicians, music professionals, music lovers, music trade firms and music institutes, the festival was also organized to initiate cross-cultural dialogue among people and artistes of the region with those from others parts of the world, with special emphasis on creating new vistas with countries of Southeast Asia and Asia. Till now, GIMF has witnessed the participation of more than 1000 artists and delegates from 9 countries.
