Ganja worth Rs approx 1 crore seized in Assam's Gossaigaon

GOSSAIGAON: In a major success, Assam Police on Monday seized a huge amount of Contraband ganja from Gossaigaon Sub-Division under Kokrajhar district of Assam.

A Gossaigaon Police team intercepts a truck bearing the registration number (AS01AC/6911 ) near the Srirampur gate under Gossaigaon Sub-Division and seized ganja weighed approximately 500 kg after thoroughly checking the vehicle.

There were a total of 50 packets of ganja in the truck.

Kokrajhar Superintendent of Police (SP) Thube Pratik Vijay Kumar said, " The market value of the seized ganja is worth Rs approximately 1 crore. The quality of the ganja was high."

The truck was heading towards Bihar from the state of Tripura.

Police arrested the handyman of the truck but the driver managed to escape, said SP Pratik.

An investigation on the matter has been initiated.
