Gaurav Gogoi writes to Amit Shah demanding immediate action on Assam-Mizoram border issues

NEW DELHI: Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi on Tuesday has written to Union Home Minister Amit Shah demanding immediate action regarding the border issues faced by Assam with neighbouring states.

In the letter, Gogoi said that the recent border violence is not just a failure at the border , but a failure of the constitutional machinery of the state that failed to protect its men.

He added that the incident took place despite the Home Minister's visit to the North eastern region a few days prior to the incident 'promising prosperity in the region and stability with regard to the border issues'.

Expressing concern over safety of people residing in the disputed areas, Gogoi further urged Shah to take the matter into immediate consideration as it is a 'time sensitive' matter and a potential threat to more lives.
