MARGHERITA: Tension prevails at Margherita area after a positive patient of COVID-19 infection died due to witchcraft practice.

The deceased has been identified as Radha Gurung, a resident of Thapa Basti Ananda Para, Duliajan.

The incident took place at Bishnu Jyoti Nagar, Workshop Colony Double Storey Building in Margherita.

Radha Gurung had been staying with her Uncle Mukul Rai for month when she suddenly became ill with fever and vomiting week ago. Instead of going to the doctor, Mukul Rai invited witchcraft from Margherita and started witchcraft activities, said locals of the area.

Radha Gurung's health deteriorated after that, and she was rushed to Duliajan Civil Hospital on Tuesday morning, however, doctors declared her dead shortly after admitting her in the hospital, according to a local resident of Bishnu Jyoti Nagar.

Meanwhile, after getting information about the incident Margherita Administration declared Workshop Colony Double Storey Building as a containment zone, while nine persons of this area tested positive for COVID-19.
