Guwahati, May 2, 2019:

The proverb “God is always bigger than devil” has been proven true after the deity of Goddess Tara belonging to the centuries-old Ugratara temple in Guwahati was miraculously found in Assam’s Nalbari district one day before a new idol was about to be installed on Thursday.

The idol has been brought to Guwahati’s Latasil Police Station, sources said. Meanwhile, the thieves are in police custody at the time of filing this report.

Speaking to InsideNE Commissioner of Police, Deepak Kumar said, “This is one of the greatest achievements of Golaghat Police that after a period of six months one of the most important goddess idols in the region was recovered”.

A Guwahati-based devotee said, “The feeling of getting our mother goddess back is a miracle and feels divine. We are very happy and blessed that our mother goddess has returned to her place back to bless her disciples.”

Meanwhile, a priest at the temple has said that repairs the Ugratara idol and the temple, therefore we will need a couple of days to place the idol. We are very happy that the temple will no longer bear the empty space anymore and the accused miscreants should be arrested and punished very soon, Pradip Das.

The idol of goddess Ugratara that was stolen from the centuries-old Ugratara temple in Guwahati in November was finally recovered on Wednesday. The police in Golaghat have been able to recover the stolen idol and arrest the thieves on Tuesday

The recovery of the stolen idol has been a major success of the police and cause of joy among the devotees in Assam as the Ugratara temple is one of the most revered shrines in the state and one of the major ‘Shaktipeethas’ of India.
