Golaghat, September 25, 2019:

Local women of Golaghat have publicly bashed a man and handed him over to the Police in an alleged case of sexual harassment of a school student.

The man, identified as Satyendra Kumar Singh, had allegedly harassed a school student of Adarsh Buniyadi School in Assam’s Golaghat district.

The victim’s mother said that he had been stalking her daughter since the past two months. “She had complained to her elder sister about the stalker. He has been taking advantage of the fact that she is young and inappropriately touches her.”

Another local said that the man was staying at a rented house opposite to the Adarsh Buniyadi School. "The two girls were crying. They told us that he stalks them everytime they are on their way to school. He often offers chocolate to lure schoolkids and then calls them to his room," she added.

Singh was caught red-handed by some women and then beaten black and blue. They handed him over to the Golaghat police and demanded strict punishment.

Over the past few days the entire state of Assam has been witnessing innumerable cases of sexual harassment.

Another heinous incident had come to light in April when some miscreants in Udalguri's Paneri tried to rape a school student on a bridge over the Kulokhi river. The miscreants had tried to rape her in broad daylight on her way back from college.

However, the victim somehow managed to escape from the clutches of the miscreants. An FIR was filed against the miscreants in Paneri Police Station.
