JAKARTA: At a time when technological advancements have made our lives easier in most situations, utter reliance on it has also resulted in unintended consequences, such as Google maps has been blamed to lead a groom's family in Indonesia to the wrong wedding venue on the day of his wedding.

The guests were greeted warmly by the hosts, who were also given refreshments after their long journey.

Luckily, the bride's family members realized the mistake during a family conversation and quickly corrected it to prevent an awkward situation.

According to reports, there were two ceremonies in the same village – a wedding and an engagement – which generated confusion. The bride was initially unaware of the situation because she was busy getting ready.

The ceremony's video went viral, in which the family can be seen leaving the venue in an awkward position with many presents.

According to international media reports, the groom's wedding party relied on Google Maps to navigate to his wedding venue in central Java's Losari Hamlet of Pakis District.

However, instead of their intended address, his family turned up in Jengkol Hamlet, which is located not far from Losari Hamlet.

The venue was of bride Maria Ulfa and her future husband Burhan Sidqi from Ringinum Village, Kendal Regency in Central Java.

Ulfa clarified that her fiancé and his group were late because they had stopped searching for a bathroom and that this group had arrived in the meantime.

“I was taken aback when I saw the man's party because I didn't recognise any of them,” she said, adding that although her fiancé was from Kendal, the family who came to her house was from Pemalang. One of her uncles realised something was wrong because of the location change.

Later the group apologised and with the support of Ulfa's family, they found their actual wedding venue.
