The Government of India representative and interlocutor for the Naga peace talks, R N Ravi, who is also the Governor of Nagaland, will hold a consultative meeting with the “primary stakeholders, Church leaders and civil societies” on October 18. The meeting will be held at the Conference Hall of Jafu Hotel, Kohima.

Representatives of 14 Naga tribes of Nagaland and United Naga Council (UNC) from Manipur will be attending the meeting.

The others who have been invited include Nagaland Baptist Church Council (NBCC) and Nagaland GB (Gaon Burahs’) Federation. The invitation issued by Officer on Special Duty (OSD) to RN Ravi has requested all to “kindly make it convenient to participate” in the meeting.

The same invitation has been forwarded to KT Vilie, Coordinator of 14 Naga tribes of Nagaland. Vilie has been requested to inform the representatives of the 14 Naga tribes so that they could take part in the scheduled meeting.

The representatives of 14 tribes had on September 15 met Working Committee (WC), Naga National Political Groups (NNPGs) and urged the committee to arrive at an agreement at the earliest as certain “substantive issues” have been negotiated between NNPGs and the Government of India.

On October 10, Nagaland Governor RN Ravi and NSCN (I-M) leaders led by Thuingaleng Muivah held a meeting in New Delhi. It has been reported that the two sides could not arrive at a consensus as NSCN (I-M) was firm with its demand for a separate “Naga national Flag and Constitution”. It may be recalled that NSCN (I-M) has been asserting that Naga national flag and Constitution were legitimate rights of the Nagas.
