Moran 9th May:

The Moran administration busted a heavy network of Gutka stored illegally in godowns. Even under lockdown, the syndicate has been ongoing for Gutka like substances. The authorities have busted more than Rs 50 lakh worth of gutka and associated substances. Following this, the godown has been sealed.

The episode reveals that even during the lockdown such malpractices have been ongoing. It is alleged that some authorities too have been compromised to continue selling of gutka items at inflated prices. A part of it has also been exported to other districts from Moran, However, the moran business community has denied the involvement of any authorities and called upon a press conference. They have also filed an FIR against social worker Kushal Dutta who cried foul play over the matter.

Speaking to media, Kushal stated, "It's a sad day for Moran as the world suffers from such a crisis (Corona). We are instead seeing here a syndicate involving unfair businessmen and even a few Jatiabadi (local) organisations are involved in selling the items. The authorities have not taken it seriously when the first bust happened in Sibsagar".
