Himanta Biswa Sarma joined BJP in fear: Tarun Gogoi

Guwahati, November 22, 2018:

Former Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi stated that Finance Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma joined the BJP because he was scared of going to jail.

Speaking exclusively to InsideNE, Tarun Gogoi said, “Himanta Biswa Sarma was caught up in scams such as the Saradha and Luis Berger scam. Sarbananda Sonowal in a press conference too alleged him of being involved in the Luis Berger scam. We never claimed him of being involved in any sort of scams but it was the members of the BJP who tagged him in such scams.”

He added that he thinks that Himanta joined that BJP in fear of going to jail. “We did not know when he decided to shift as just a day before him joining the BJP, he was with us. He was planning how we could make the party stronger but the very next day he joined the BJP”, he added.

Gogoi added that Himanta even abusively criticized Narendra Modi which no one from Congress.

Gogoi further speaking on the current issue of youth joining the ULFA-I said that the youth are joining ULFA-I now because of unemployment. “Most of the youth are unemployment who were forced to join the outfit as they could not find a job as promised by the government”, he added.
