Himanta Biswa Sarma Runs on Treadmill After Inaugurating Sports Complex in Karbi Anglong

Amid increasing focus on health and fitness worldwide in the aftermath of the recently-held 'World Yoga Day' (June 21), Assam Finance Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has now joined the crusade for fitness in the region.

Today, the Assam Minister flagged off a brand new sports complex at Dongkamukam in Karbi Anglong!

Himanta Biswa Sarma also announced this via his official Twitter handle. He wrote: "To enjoy glow of good health, you must exercise - a saying! The Re 25 cr 6000-capacity New Sports Complex at Dongkamukam, I inaugurated today has an indoor stadium, pavilion, gallery, & a state-of-art gym."

In a video that was posted online, the Minister can also be seen running on a treadmill for close to a minute in a fairly rapid pace.

Himanta Biswa Sarma was also accompanied by Karbi Anglong CEM Tuliram Ronghang, newly-elected BJP MP Horensing Bey, Assam Minister Pijush Hazarika, among others.

The Minister also expressed hope that the new establishment would go a long way in encouraging the youth to excel in the field of sports.

In another Tweet, he wrote: "I have always believed in the power of our youth, and their ability to deliver ~ from footballs fields to the boxing rings, and even skating rinks. The new Sports Complex at KAAC will go a long way in tapping the potential of our youngsters. I encourage them to make most of it."
