BAKSA: In a major breakthrough, a team of Tamulpur Police have recovered a large number of arms and ammunitions store along the Indo-Bhutan border under the Tamulpur police station in Baksa district and apprehended four persons in connection with this.

On the basis of a tip, a team of Tamulpur police led by Tamulpur Subdivisional Police Officer Aseema Kalita launched a raid at Santipur River Bank area under Kumarikata OP at 3 am on Sunday and recovered the cache of arms and ammunitions from Santipur village.

The seized cache includes-- 10 hand grenades, 6 ammunitions of 9 MM pistol, an empty magazine of AK-47, 9 numbers of safety levers of grenade, 3 detonators, one country-made revolver, 235 live bullets of AK 47.

Besides making the seizure, the police also arrested four youths from the locality. They are --Bethel Mosahary, Bilas Ishwary, Chwmswar Musahary, and Kirtiraj Basumtary on suspicion of being involved in the huge arms store.

"Ref. Tamulpur PS Case No. 202/2021 u/s 506/34 IPC r/w sec 25(1-A)/27 Arms Act. a search operation was conducted at Santipur River Bank area under Kumarikata OP in the leadership of Aseema Kalita, SDPO, Tamulpur and huge numbers of arms & ammunition has been recovered," Baksa police tweeted after making the seizure.
