KOKRAJHAR: As many as 52 newly recruited Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) pass teachers in the High and Higher Secondary Schools in the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) are said to have allegedly used fake academic credentials to get jobs.

The Director of Education, Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) Jagdish Prasad Brahma issued a notice on September 24 instructing the District Education Departments to stop paying the monthly salary of 52 teachers who were recruited fraudulently.

These appointment letters were distributed in four districts of Bodoland Territorial Area Districts (BTAD)--Baksa, Udalguri, Chirang, and Kokrajhar.

Brahma has already sent a letter to the concerned schools in four districts requesting that the salary of 52 appointed teachers be withheld till further notice.

Talking to the media, Brahma said," Following the distribution of the appointment letters, we received some verbal complaints from a few individuals. BTR Chief Pramod Boro also called me up and asked me to verify the matter with the Board of Secondary Education, Assam (SEBA) chairman R. C Jain."

He said he also discussed the matter with R.C Jain and sent educational credentials along with the roll numbers of 74 suspected teachers who have already been recruited in the schools in BTR for verification.

Following a review of all of the recruited teachers' academic records, it was found that 36 of the individuals on the list falsified their educational credentials.

In this regard, Brahma has instructed all TET teachers and teachers accused of fraud to appear in front of the Director of Education, BTC, for proof of valid educational certificates as soon as possible.

According to the education official, legal action will be taken against all those TET teachers who falsified their educational credentials.

It needs to be mentioned that as many as 851 nos. appointment letters for the posts of Graduate Teacher (Arts/Science), Hindi, and Sanskrit in Prov. High and Higher Secondary Schools in four districts under BTR were distributed on 11, 12, and 13 August 2021.
