Guwahati, January 20, 2019:

The Rashtriya Sawyamsevak Sangh (RSS) have organized a state wide road march today. The march is being held from 10 am in every district headquarter of Brahmaputra valley, Meghalaya and Naga Bhumi (Nagaland).

In Guwahati, the event is being organized at Geeta Nagar field. The procession, consisting of around 2000 RSS members, will march to Ambikaguri Tiniali and then back again to Geetanagar.

Ranjeet Sharma, Samparka Pramukh, while addressing the media, stated: “RSS has a clear principle. We do not consider any Hindu a foreigner. India is a Hindu nation, all Hindus are welcome here.”

“As per law, any Hindu can come here and we support the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill 2016 and it is our national commitment. Congress had assured us that non-Muslims who were separated from India post-partition can come here in 1947,” he added, in regard to the implementation of the contentious Citizenship (Amendment) Bill 2016.

Speaking about the opposition of indigenous people to the government in regards to implementation of the proposed Bill, the RSS leader said: “We cannot speak on behalf of the government, but we support the Bill as per our own opinion. If the government really does something against the interests of the people, they will be voted out through a democratic process. But polls have presented a different story thus far.”
