India records 4.1 lakh fresh COVID cases, 4187 deaths in 24 hours

NEW DELHI: India in the past 24 hours reported 4.1 lakh (4,01,078) fresh cases of COVID-19 taking the total tally to over 2.18 crore (2,18,92,676).

The country reported as many as 4,187 new fatalities due to the infection during the period, with the new deaths, the death toll stands at 2,38,270.

Among the fresh cases, Maharashtra alone reported 54,022 cases followed by, Uttar Pradesh(27,763), Kerala, Karnataka (48,781), Tamil Nadu(26,465), among others.

At least 14 states have been reporting five-figure cases.

India currently has 37,23,446 active cases of the virus, while a total of 1,79,30,960 people infected with the virus have been recovered during the period so far.

Meanwhile, a total of 16,73,46,544 vaccines of COVID-19 were administered.

The Union Health Ministry said there are over one lakh active Covid-19 cases in 12 states, with 50,000 to one lakh active cases in seven others.
