India records 349,691 new COVID-19 cases, 2,767 deaths in 24 hours

NEW DELHI: India reported a daily increase of 349,691 new COVID-19 infections, bringing the country's total to 1,69,60,172.

According to health ministry numbers, a total of 2,767 people died in the last 24 hours, bringing the death toll to 192,311.

Currently, India has 26,82,751 active cases.

According to the health ministry, 2,17,113 patients have been discharged in the last 24 hours, while 1,40,85,110 people have recovered from the infection so far.

Maharashtra (67,160 cases), Karnataka (29,438 cases), Uttar Pradesh (37,944 cases), Delhi (24,103 cases), and Kerala (26,685 cases) are among the top five states with the most COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours.

Meanwhile, India has become the fastest country in the world to administer 14 crore doses of COVID vaccine in just 99 days.

More than 24 lakh vaccine doses were administered in the country as of last evening.

These include 1,19,42,233 Frontline Staff (FLWs) (1st dose), 62,77,797 FLWs (2nd dose), 4,76,41,992 for over 45 years old to 60 years old (first dose), 23,22,480 for over 45 years old to 60 years old (second dose), 4,96,32,245 for over 60 years old (first dose) and 77,02,025 for above 60 years old (second dose).

According to the preliminary report, the first dose of the vaccine was given to 15,69,631 beneficiaries, and the second dose was given to 8,53,358 beneficiaries.
