India reports 118 deaths, 26,291 fresh COVID-19 cases over 24 hours

NEW DELHI: As many as 118 deaths due to COVID-19 infection and 26,291 fresh COVID cases have been reported in India over the past 24 hours.

With these fresh COVID-19 cases, the total number of active cases in the country stands at 2,19,262, according to the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

The cumulative number of positive cases is now 1,13,85,339, including 1,10,07,352 recoveries.

The vaccination drive against the coronavirus disease is underway in the country.

So far around 2,99,08,038 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been administered across the country.

The Indian Council of Medical Research reports that 22,74,07,413 samples have been screened for the infection, with 7,03,772 being tested in the last 24 hours.

Currently, Maharashtra is the worst affected state in the country.

The state reported 16,620 new COVID-19 cases, 8,861 discharges, and 50 deaths in the past 24 hours.

Moreover, currently, the state has 16,630 active cases.
