India reports 3.23 lakh new COVID-19 cases, 2771 deaths over 24 hours

NEW DELHI: India's COVID-19 tally reaches 1,76,36,307 with 3,23,144 fresh cases reported in the last 24 hours.

At least 2771 people infected with the disease had died during the period. With these fresh fatalities, the death toll stands at 1,97,894.

The number of active cases has risen to 28,82,204, accounting for 16.34% of all infections, with as many as 2,51,827 discharges in the last 24 hours, as per Union Health Ministry.

A total of 1,45,56,209 people infected with COVID have so far been recovered.

The national recovery rate has dropped to 82.54 %.

Total 14,52,71,186 people were administered vaccination against the virus.

With vaccination being available for the 18-to-45-year-old age group on May 1 due to the COVID surge, India is expected to need massive supplies.

Meanwhile, the United States, the European Union, Germany, France, and several other countries have agreed to help India in fighting the virus's vicious second surge, which has infected over 3 lakh people for four days in a row.
