India reports 50,848 fresh COVID-19 cases; 1,358 deaths

NEW DELHI: India has registered a slightly increased number of COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours compared to the previous day.

A total of 50,848 persons have tested positive for the virus, bringing the total number of cases to 3,00,28,709 on Wednesday.

The daily positivity rate has dropped to 2.67 percent.

There was an increase in mortality with 1,358 people succumbing to the disease, bringing the total number of death stands at 3,90,660.

Between Tuesday and Wednesday 68,817 people were released, the total number of discharges reached 2,89,94,855.The recovery rate has improved to 96.56 percent.

The number of active cases in the country has dropped to 6,43,194.

According to the India Council of Medical Research (ICMR), country has tested 39,59,73,198 samples for Covid-19 so far.
