India Reports First Case of Yellow Fungus in Ghaziabad

GHAZIABAD: While the nation is already dealing with COVID chaos and the terror of the Black and White Fungus, the first case of Yellow Fungus has been reported in Ghaziabad.

The case has been confirmed by an ENT Specialist Dr. B.P. Tyagi of Harsh Hospital, Ghaziabad where the patient is undergoing treatment.

Reportedly, the 45-year-old patient has already been suffering from Black and Yellow Fungus before being detected with the Yellow one.

Dr. Tyagi stated that the initial reports of the patient were normal but after doing further investigations, the patient was detected with all the three fungi.

Reportedly, the patient's son said that his father was gradually recovering from COVID-19. But then his eyes started to swell and closed altogether within few days.

The ENT specialist further informed that this type of fungus is generally found in reptiles and it is treated with Amphotericin B injection. However, the healing takes long, added Tyagi.

Some of most common symptoms of this disease, as stated by Dr. Tyagi; are lethargy, appetite loss, wounds taking time to heal etc.

He further suggested that maintaining cleanliness and hygiene can prevent the disease as the infection starts due to poor hygiene.
